Creator of the ‘Megaupload’ is arrested


World’s one of the most popular file sharing website ‘Megaupload’ creator Kim dotcom has been arrested. Kim has the citizenship of Germany and Finland. The judiciary council of America and federal bureau of investigation (FBI) has stopped the Megaupload website on Thursday.

 Through this site, the Megaupload limited and Wester limited named two companies does the business of 175 million dollars by illegal means. Due of piracy, the people having the copyrights faced the loss of about more than 1 billion dollars. FBI has arrested seven people for violating the copyrights by encouraging the hackers for hacking the website of FBI and judiciary council. One of them is the creator of the Megaupload website Mr. Kim Dotcom while three of them are from Germany and one of them is from Slovakia, Astoria and Netherlands each. After the establishment of the crime all of them can be punished for 20 years for forgery, 5 years for violating copyrights and 20 years for money laundering. About 50 million dollars of property of Kim Dotcom has been sealed in New Zealand. Apart from this, many servers and domain names of the Megaupload network has been found. Dotcom had been jailed for 3 years in Munich in 1994. In 2001, he was among the main suspects of the cross business culprits in Germany. But after that he ran away from Germany but he was caught in Thailand. He was transferred from there and charged in 2002.

SOPA and PIPA bills halts


The American congress has halted the execution of the anti piracy bills for uncertain time. This action was taken after the online encyclopedia ‘Wikipedia’ and some other popular websites came in opposition of this bill.
The leader of the senate Mr. harry reed has made the decision to delay the voting process on Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) on coming Monday on this Friday. He wrote on twitter “due to some recent activities on the internet world, I have made the decision to delay the voting on PIPA”. The republican chairman of the judicial council Lamar smith said “till the day when there is a common decision in the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA), there will not be any voting conducted on this bill”. This action was taken after when Wikipedia and the blogging site ‘wordpress’ along with thousands of website stopped the service on Wednesday for 24 hours. The goal of this bill is to make a strict law and formulate the penalties against the user’s online piracy of the music and movies. The opponents of these bills say that this will encourage the internet censorship.
